Christ the King Sunday
November 26, 2023

Next Sunday, December 3, is the first Sunday of Advent, when we begin our Journey towards Bethlehem and the celebration of the birth of Christ. The first Sunday of Advent is the first Sunday of the Christian liturgical year.

That makes this Sunday, November 26, the last Sunday of our current liturgical year. Throughout the past year, we have anticipated and celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. We have talked about his childhood, his baptism, his ministry. We’ve followed him to the Cross, rejoiced in his Resurrection, and marveled at his Ascension into Heaven. We’ve given thanks for the gift of his Holy Spirit, who continues to sustain the Church. And today, on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, we look forward to the day when Christ will come again in glory as the King of Kings.

Join us in worship as we celebrate our Shepherd King. Our Scripture passages will be Matthew 25:31-46 and Ezekiel 34:1-16. Please join us in the sanctuary or online. Our service will be live-streamed at 11:00 a.m. on the Jefferson United Presbyterian Church YouTube Channel and available any time afterward.
